Has Spymac jumped the shark?

Posted by Armando @ 10:36 PM CST

Taken from Rumortracker.com

Uh oh. It looks like Spymac may have just jumped the shark. Most of you know what the phrase means, but for the handful of you that don't. Jumping the shark was originally coined to describe the point in time when a TV show hit it's peak, and immediately went downhill from there. It was derived from the TV show "Happy Days", and refers to the episode where the Fonz "jumps a shark" behind a boat on his skis (Thanks to Cody Michel for clearing this up ). Over the past half a decade, it has come to apply to anything that has changed for the worse, and will never be the same.

Some Aquafiles improvements

Posted by Armando @ 02:52 AM CST

I've JUST finished writing a voting/review script for one of my other sites, and it turned out so fricken good, that I'll be installing it here on Aquafiles this Sunday. Keep an eye out for it. It's an "Amazon" style rating and review script. I know you'll love it. Took me forever to write.

Also as many of you know, the page you're lookin' at right now, will undergo testing next week for a new script that should enable me to intergrate Apple and OS X news, as well as rumors, tips, tricks, and other miscellaneous items from all my other sites.

This should add some more content to the "Today" page. I've got my fingers crossed. It's an open source script based on PHP and MySQL. I have limited experience with PHP, so I may run into a few snags, but I'll get it working.

There are several other improvements in the works, including a an open source knowledgebase. I'm currently rewritting and making code improvements for it to work with Aquafiles. It'll be like a giant, user driven how to, and FAQ for OS X.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled web page.

Don't Panic !

Posted by Armando @ 08:23 PM CST

Stay Calm ! There is no need to worry, this section has been on vacation and will return in just a couple of days. If needed, women and children may exit their browsers first.

I've been working on several of my other sites, and will now try to integrate news, and comments from them into this section. I know it's been a while since the last post, but this page will be rocking again soon.

I've all but finished the code for my new site Rumortracker.com, an Apple rumor site. It took a little longer than I thought it would.

My current project DearApple.com, should be up next week. The only thing visible at the moment is a test of a poll script, but I've already automated the whole site and it's almost ready to go. There's a huge section in waiting, behind the scenes. I see BIG things in store for that one.

And finally, the next, and final Apple related site "OS X Magazine.com" is on the waiting list. It won't be ready for about 2 months. But it will be a user run Magazine style site. I'm still trying to decide on which direction I should take with it.

Anyway, stay tuned. I'm working day and night to get things running smoothly.

Rumor: 4 to 6 Processor Mac Servers

Posted by Alex @ 10:31 PM CST

MacRumors has an interesting rumor regarding the MacServer. Maybe 4 to 6 processors. This sounds like another long shot to say the least, but I couldn't help but ponder the cost of components, specifically the CPU if this were to in fact take place. Though I am sure the server would sell for well over $10,000, the singe and dual G4 PowerMacs would realize cheaper component costs as a result.

We shall all know what is under the hood in just six days.
